Distractions are all around us, always. It never fails, when you set in your mind that you are going to work out an action plan, start a campaign or write that dreaded review about so and so’s product something distracts you from your mission. It could be email “You have mail” alert. It could be a website you were going to check out with a video that you have to watch now! It also could be a knock on your door or your pet making a mess on the floor. Whatever the excuse we all get distracted from our mission from time to time.
The biggest problem among affiliates is the what I call “the affiliate money suck trap“. I heard John Carlton explain in detail about operation money suck. You might still be able to find the audios hosted by copy writer Peter Stone here. The Affiliate Money Suck Trap is simply this… most affiliates are information junkies, myself included. We get a really good email copy from ____ fill in the blank, go to there squeeze page to see a free 20 page small report or 30 minute video explaining a certain strategy. We then sign up for there offering. I have 5 gmail accounts that I get at least a hundred emails daily because of this.
Then we purchase there program skim through it then forget about it because a new better program just came on the market. To top it all off the cycle coninues until you are broke, lost or both. Affiliate money suck trap in a nut shell is affiliates and internet marketers spend way to much time looking at then purchasing distracting offers.
I heard an interview recently with Jimmy D. Brown from Affiliatenaire, explaining this very problem. His solution is to look at the offering on Fridays after your work is done. This is a great strategy and it really does work.

How to use your money suck “hang out” places on the Internet to create more traffic to your site and start making real money.
When I started using twitter, digg and warrior forum I used them way to much for personal reasons. Mostly though for learning how to use them. Warrior form was the worse for me. Once I sign up for the War roomI received amazing gifts that ate up my time. I am not complaining, on the contrary that was time well spent. Learning. We all need to learn something every day, If you make it to the war room, mark on your calendar that you won’t do anything else for a week. Then take action with what you learned inside.
Here is a strategy I use to get more traffic and affiliate sales from social sites.
I have a little plugin called twitter tools that I use from my admin panel from my blog.when I publish a blog post it automatically sends a tweet to twitter announcing my new post. Those whom follow me if they see the tweet then follow the link in my tweet to my post. I also tweet again three more times through out the day with varying messages. I have a system that is set up on semi-auto pilot,(I’ll explain this system, little more in a moment) I just don’t spend all my time promoting my posts and site. I need time to write and create marketing messages.
I write several blog posts ahead of time. Then I schedule each article to post on a certain day and time. Word Press allows you to do this, great tool. Through out the week all I have to do is comment on various blogs and use a link to my site to get traffic. Generally I spend any where from 30 minutes to an hour a day using this strategy.
Next after writing all the blog posts I also write a tweet to promote each post softly . I actually write around six of them for each new post. Then I head over to Social Oomph(formally TweetLater) and schedule my tweets to promote my new posts. This puts my tweets on autopilot. I just schedule, the system posts each tweet at the designated times. Blog Promoting on auto-pilot. Well at least blog tweeting.
One way to kill the affiliate money suck forever…
I call it focusing. You may call it a daily agenda or scheduling your day That is the key here, Set amount of time per-event. Let’s say you need to write six- 600 word articles, plus you need to leave time to reply to comments or answer customer support tickets. You also need to create a video for an offer. Maybe even write a marketing message to your list because the affiliate manager has given you 24 hours heads up about his killer product launch tomorrow.
Here is how I would do it:
I would start with the article, because these will take the longest time. Do these when you are at your sharpest. My time is around 5Am in the morning. I write fast, so knocking out these articles after research would take around an hour maybe two hours tops with corrections.
Taking care of comments or support tickets you should be able to multitask this operation if you have two windows up. Answer a comment then answer a support ticket. On to the next.
Write your email to your list. Generally you already know what you are going to say any way just write it out like you would talk to buddy at work or on the phone. that email will be written in no time. I wouldn’t use the product creators email for the shear reason that almost every other affiliate promoting the program will be using it. Take the highlights of the email that captures your attention and place them in your email.
Then create your video. Spend an hour tops figuring out what you are going to say. Then slam it out, pop it on you tube or what have you. Your day is done.
The 3 Big thing you need to focus on first before the money suck monster eats your lunch.
Every day I focus on the following three tasks. Without devoting a little time to these 3 you will not have a business.
Traffic: If you have a website or blog then you need to be focused on getting traffic to your site. It doesn’t matter which activity or strategy you use, just the shear fact that you take action to get potential prospects or readers to your site will pay off in the long run.
Subscribers:Your subscribers could make you a fortune. They have trusted you enough to allow you to send them emails and promotions. At some point they like what you had to say and are allowing you to keep saying more. Don’t break that trust factor. Take care of your list first and foremost. Always over deliver.
Offers:A lot of affiliates just shop for high priced programs on click bank or commission junction in order make a lot of sales without ever knowing if the product was worth buying or not. Remember this, if you are promoting a product that doesn’t live up to what you have told your list, you will eventually lose subscribers and get a bad name. It doesn’t really matter about the product owner, although they will probably lose future sales and list members as well, your subscribers are looking toward you to help them make a decision.
Internet consumers are at a turning point. With the economy tight and many out of work any cash or credits are as precious as gold. If the product you promote doesn’t deliver you will get a bad name fast. This is word of mouth marketing in reverse. Always purchase the product before promoting it.
This is so, very, very important that you spend some time to get visitors to your site, subscribers on your list and presenting each of these with something to buy in order to generate sales.
